Taking the name Ballshow for only two days, the town was quickly renamed Ballwin by its founder, John Ball. The city has grown immensely since its original 750 residents to 32,000 today.

Grounded by Manchester Road, which extends to Downtown St. Louis, Ballwin is nearby major interstates 270, 64/40, and 44. Residents are only a 40-minute drive from the city and 30 minutes away from the airport. 

Ballwin is filled with family friendly subdivisions that sponsor organized activities and neighborhood parties. With a thriving business district, residents have easy access to many amenities with close proximity to churches, schools, shopping, and parks.

Although the neighborhood has plenty of bars and restaurants, it also offers residents alternative forms of entertainment. With several parks, recreation centers, and a 9-hole golf course, there is something for every member of the community to enjoy.

Every summer people from surrounding neighborhoods attend Ballwin Days, an annual carnival and fair with rides and vendors.

Ballwin has excellent public schools from both the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts. Each district has a number of schools to attend from kindergarten through high school. 

Ferris Park | Ferris Park is 9 acres and includes a ball field, playground, comfort station, nature trails, and a Gothic arch pavilion.

New Ballwin Park | On 7.3 acres with a playground, tennis courts, pavilion, trail, playing field, sand volleyball, and a well stocked lake.

Vlaiss Park | 31 acres with two baseball fields, playground, tennis courts, sand volleyball, pavilions, walking path, and stocked pond.

Holloway Park | Holloway Park is home to Ballwin's North Pointe Family Aquatic Center. It offers open spaces and active recreation opportunities with a playground, tennis courts, sports field and swimming pool.

Ballwin Golf Club | The Ballwin Golf Club is a very challenging, nine-hole course that can play 2,537 yards in length from the most forward set of tees and up to 3,433 yards from “the tips.” A dual tee marker system accommodates golfers wishing to play an 18-hole round. The sand bunkers, zoysia grass fairways, and tees along with the many and varied water hazards, offer golfers of all skill levels opportunities for enjoyment on each and every hole. There is a golf shop and snack bar on premises.

North Pointe Aquatic Center | Includes a competitive lap pool (25x25) with 10 lanes, two one-meter diving boards, and “Tree Swing.” The outdoor park also has a lazy river, leisure, play, and spray pools, two-story water slides, waterfall, party room, and concession area.
